BRINGING IT HOME

I spent the last year talking to factories and printers, gearing up to move our manufacturing from China to America. We will be the only company making rubber ducks in the United States, where they were invented, in the state of Ohio, where it all began. I’m proud of that, but it also makes me sad because there are no other factories and not enough trained mold makers and painters to make them here.

Even the gift box I put my ducks in will be printed in the United States. It’s 10 times the cost to print them in the short runs like I do, but I’m not importing boxes from overseas! Whatever the cost, I’ll absorb it. I’ll make less. If I had shareholders, I’d be fired! But I will make them here, and I will sell more. Because I believe that in the long run, enough people will care that we took an industry that was invented here and brought it back.
